Not against writing letter but it’s unconstitutional: Kaira

Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that he has never said the government will not write the letter to the Swiss authorities, adding that the government’s stance has been that writing the letter was unconstitutional.
Talking to the journalists outside Parliament House on Friday, Kaira said that he was misquoted by a section of the media on his statement on the issue of writing a letter to the Swiss authorities.
“I never said that the party’s stance was against writing the letter. I had said that the federal cabinet would decide on the issue,” he said.
His party respected all institutions of the country, including the judiciary, he said and added that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) did not have any conflict with the judiciary.
He, however, said the government could not accept any undemocratic behavior in the country and the parliament would guard the system.
Meanwhile, Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour told the journalists that the government was under hot waters on the thorny issue of writing letter to Swiss officials adding undoubtedly country was struggling and facing dire consequences in this regard. He added that the government was in no mood to write letter to Swiss authorities
