The Capital Development Authority has decided to restart work on Kuri Model Village plan. CDA had previously stopped work on the plan due to corruption in the project. In a high-level meeting of the CDA officials presided over by Chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal, it was stated that if attention was not given to the already acquired land spreading over 4,000 kanals in Kuri and Riyaarah, it seems it will be occupied again.
One of the CDA high-up told the meeting that the organization is willing to start a project of Kuri Model Village bearing a total cost of Rs 2 billion and has prospects of generating an income of Rs 10 billion through selling of commercial plots.
Replying to a question about the allotment of substitute plots to the present dwellers of Kuri village, the official said Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was conducting an investigation on the award of Kuri model village. After the investigations, allotment letters would be given to the residents of Kuri village, he added. It is pertinent to mention that in December 2010, FIA had asked CDA to present record about allotment of plots as according to reports, hundreds of undeserving people were included in the award.
Cases were also registered against 6 officers and employees of CDA, including the then director land and Deputy Director Sheikh Khursheed who was working on current-charge basis.
On August 17, 2011, FIA arrested CDA Deputy Tehsildar Mian Aftab Ahmed and Admin Officer Ali Asghar.
The FIA and the NAB, after investigation, held that 1,200 persons were illegally awarded plots.
The then CDA chairman Imtiaz Inayat Ilahi then declared that the 3,976 allotment letters had no effect.
Investigations by the FIA are on the go and the development work for Kuri Model Village will be given a final shape in the next few days.
TMA Rawal Town removes 60 illegal boards, encroachments: Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Rawal Town, has started action against illegal boards and banners in the city.
An encroachment department team, under the supervision of Town Officer (Regulation) Malik Tousif Ahmad, initiated an operation against illegal boards and banners on Murree Road, Commercial Market and other shopping centres of Rawal Town. During the operation, around 60 boards and a large number of banners were removed while an FIR was also lodged against five departments. The team also acted against encroachments in Ganjmandi, Bara Bazaar, Iqbal Road, Bohar Bazaar and impounded three trucks over encroachments.
Malik Tousif said the operation was launched in all bazaars of Rawal Town without any discrimination.
