The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not given up hope of playing series against Pakistan in Pakistan and in its recent move has changed its legal team and now has hired the services of a new lawyer, Rokon Uddin Mahmud, to fight against the Public Litigiation Appeal (PLA), filed by the two locals in High Court on Thursday, it is learnt here.
Confirming the news, the Barrister, Rokon Mahmud said, “The BCB chairman, Mustafa Kamal has approached us to appear in court on July 12.”
“I have just returned from abroad and has not seen the papers and therefore can not divulge the details about our defence line,” he further added.
In April this year, the BCB had planned a short tour to Pakistan but it got called off following a High Court stay order on the tour for four weeks.
The two petitioners, Khandiker Dider-us-Salam and Kamal Hossain Miazi believed that it is unsafe for the national team to travel to Pakistan at this time of the year and got the extension of the interim stay order.
Rokon Uddin is a Barrister with 25 years experience who concentrates on areas like: corporate, commercial, company and admiralty; administrative and constitutional law; arbitration. He represents U.S. law firms and companies. But do not take cases out side of Dhaka. He does not provide services of a certified translator, court reporter/ stenographer or notary. Since the new lawyer is yet to file the reply, the appeal may not be heard on Thursday.
