HYDERABAD – Senior politician and former chief minister and water and power minister Liaqat Ali Jatoi announced the launch of his own political party on Saturday.
“The Awami Ittehad Party is a patriotic party that is against hereditary politics, which is the hallmark of almost all political parties in the country,” Jatoi said while addressing a press conference held at a hotel.
Describing the salient features of his party constitution, he said that it would allow the judges of apex and high courts to select their benches and the powers of chancellor vested in the governor would be handed over to the chancellor, who would be a man of letters.
He continued that the CBR chairman would be appointed from the business community through the elections of chambers of commerce and industries and no electricity rates would be charged from consumers who consume up to 50 units.
