The Op-ed by 'NEWS DESK' was a crude and was totally contrary to fact. It is as attempt to lionize Generals and glorify their respective misrule. Let's consider fact, for a change, very briefly.
1. Ayub Khan was singularly responsible for debacle called 'Indus Basin Treaty'. This treaty not only left Pakistan 'high and dry' but by inking this document, Field Marshal told us in no in no uncertain terms how totally bereft of vision he was. This treaty was foundation of precipice, we are facing today.
2. Load shedding was introduced in this country by Zia-Ul-Haq and look what your News desk want us to believe! He was possessed by only one mission of continuing his bloody and tyrannical rule. He did nothing to increase the generation capacity of electricity (like many other things) till the time PAF came to our rescue.
3. BB during her rule addressed the situation and load-shedding was completely abolished. During subsequent civilian rule, load-shedding never returned.
3. Musharraf also totally failed to increase the generation capacity. His rule and mismanagement took us to present state of energy shortage abs load shedding.
Pls. at least don't distort history. We've been doing it all along but at least shun this practice now.
