SITE Association of Industry Chairman Muhammad Irfan Moton has expressed much concern and condemned the killing of security guard on Tuesday in SITE area by the dacoits who were following the industrialist and opened fire while he was entering his factory.
He said such incidents were occurring due to the sheer negligence of police and security agencies of the area. If the police and the security agencies had been alert, it would not have happened. He condemned the killing in strong words and blamed the SITE Town Police and the Rangers in the area for not being alert. He said the murder was committed in a factory which is situated in SITE area. The victim was the security guard who worked in a factory at Bawany Chali in SITE Area, a large industrial Unit situated at plot A-47, SITE Karachi.
While expressing condolence on the demise of security guard, Irfan Moton said that area police and security agencies had not taken any stringent measures to curb the crime in SITE area and were making no efforts to protect lives of industrialists whereas SITE industrial estate was contributing 39 percent to national exchequer and it was providing employment to over o.5 million people.
Representing the biggest and oldest industrial estate of the country, Moton said the current crisis of law and order in the capital hub was not supportive for investments in the industry which required wait and see and invest stages. The wait and see period has to be brought to zero only by stringent measures by assuring improvement of law and order, he suggested.
He said crime in the SITE area was increasing and snatching of mobiles and wages from the workers on gun point was rampart.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in his recent visit to SITE Association of Industry wherein IGP and high ranking police officials were also present had assured the business community that law and order in the area would improve after posting of 500 police force, provision of more mobile vans and motorbikes, but no tangible progress was being felt in the area.
The chairman further said although during the meeting with the chief minister in the presence of police chief of the province, it was suggested that frequent transfer of police officers in the SITE area be carefully decided but perhaps the suggestions of business community of the SITE area was not given any consideration. He demanded of the Sindh CM and governor, and advisor to PM on interior affairs to take necessary steps for improvement of the law and order in the biggest industrial estate of the country on war footing basis.
