A delegation headed by the chief of the paramilitary Pakistan Rangers on Sunday left for India to attend a biannual meeting with the Border Security Force (BSF) at Delhi during July 1-5.
The delegation, comprising top officials of the Pakistan Rangers, Survey of Pakistan, Interior Ministry and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), will discuss key issues of common interest and measures to improve peace and tranquillity along the border.
“We will discuss all the issues with Indian counterparts,” the DG Punjab rangers told reporters at Wagah Border.
Sources said that measures to counter smuggling, hostile firing and the repatriation of Pakistani prisoners, including fishermen and persons who inadvertently crossed the border, would also be raised during the talks.
“The officials of the ANF will discuss the sharing of intelligence with their Indian counterparts and steps to counter the smuggling of drugs through the India-Pakistan border,” they added.
