PU and ASA hold anti-US protest

LAHORE – A large number of Punjab University (PU) students and the Academic Staff Association (ASA) on Friday organised an anti-US rally against killing of three citizens by an American national Raymond Davis. Protestors said that they were annoyed on death of Pakistanis and demanded death sentence for Davis while they also chanted anti-US slogans.
After Friday prayers, a large number of students and teachers started gathering in front of the PU Mosque, as PUASA President Dr Maher Saeed Akhtar, through an announcement at the mosque, claimed that US security agency Blackwater is present in Pakistan and the ASA requests teaches and students to unite for a rally against killing of three Pakistani citizens by the American.
Hundreds of students gathered on call of Saeed and started a rally. Protestors were carrying placards reading “Crush America”. Saeed, addressing the protesters, said that American citizens have killed innocent people and he would raise his voice at various forums against killing of three Pakistanis by Davis. He said that Americans are involved in various activities in the country and it is responsibility of citizens to unite and oppose anti-Pakistan activities.
Saeed said that he would call a general body meeting of the ASA and start a movement against killings of three Pakistanis. The teacher leader said that hooliganism of Americans is a challenge for the whole nation and they would not allow the US to carry out such activities. Protesters also held a prayer for the departed soul of three citizens killed by Davis.
