18,800 houses being constructed for flood victims

A total of 18,800 houses are being constructed for the poor and deserving flood hit people of Sindh in collaboration with government of Sindh, NGOs, and international organizations with the cost of Rs 3 billion. According to a representative of an NGO, the houses are being constructed in Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Tharparkar and Mirpur Khas areas. Thhe construction (of the houses) would be completed in a period of next two years. A total of 8500 houses have already been handed over to the deserving and poor in various flood hit areas of Sindh while 5,810 houses are near completion in various flood hit areas. Likewise, the remaining 4490 houses would be completed in next two years. The construction of houses is being supervised jointly by the representatives of non governmental organizations, representatives of international organizations and local community, he said.
