A man strangled his infant daughter to death on Friday over a domestic quarrel.
According to police sources, Shan Ali, resident of Ali Park area, strangled one and a half month old Fiza to death after a quarrel with his wife. After failing to convince his wife – who had left home a few months ago and was living with her parents – to return home, Shan killed his daughter in a fit of anger.
Police registered a case but the man has not been arrested so far.
Youth shot dead over old enmity: Unidentified men gunned down a youth and injured another on Friday. The reason for the killing is said to be old enmity.
According to details, Laiq Ahmed and his friend Sikandar Nabi were present in a workshop for motorcycle repairs in Santnagar area when three armed motorcyclists arrived at the scene and started firing indiscriminately. Laiq Ahmed died on the spot and Sikandar Nabi sustained serious injuries.
Laiq and his friends had shot dead a person in 2009 and he was recently released from prison on bail. According to police sources, Laiq’s murder may have been the outcome of the same incident.
