Pakistan’s disgraced batsman and former captain Salman Butt is likely to make some startling disclosures related the spot-fixing case, which saw him jailed and banned from all cricket.
Reports coming fom close quarters of Butt said that the former Test opener has decided to expose the names of some bookmakers and few players who were actively involved in spot fixing racket. “Since he is aware that his international career is more or less over he now wants to also expose others,” one source said.
Butt after returning to Pakistan last week had pleaded innocence but admitted he committed a mistake in not informing the ICC anti-corruption authorities about approaches made to him to fix matches.
Butt insists that while his agent, Mazhar Majeed made approaches to him but he never did any spot-fixing and is innocent.
Interestingly, another source said that Butt has also decided to cash in on his high demand in the media even during his ban period.
“He apparently has negotiated a big amount to give a press conference and exclusive interview rights to a broadcaster,” the source said.
Butt had also appeared as an expert on a Pakistani television channel during the 2011 World Cup which led ICC asking the PCB to ban him from all media appearances.
