Surjeet Singh released after 27 years

Indian prisoner in Pakistan, Sarjeet Singh was released after 27 years from Kot Lakhpat Jail.
He was handed over to Indian authorities at the border.
In his brief talk after release‚ Surjeet Singh said that he had pleasant time while in Pakistan but he kept on missing his home and family.
Surjeet said that he would go to Golden Temple as soon as he will reach India to express his gratitude.
He added that he liked Pakistan but if ever tried coming back then the agencies would consider him a spy, he also lauded the efforts of former federal interior minister Rehman Malik for making his freedom possible.
Surjeet Singh‚ son of Sucha Singh‚ was originally given death sentence that was commuted in 1989 by then president Ghulam Ishaq Khan on the advice of then premier Benazir Bhutto.

While we appreciate and welcome the release of Surjeet Singh who spent around three decades in Paki jails, but we are also sorry to learn about the Paki authorities taking a U-turn on the release of another Indian prisoner in Kot Lakhpat Jail, Mr. Sarabjit Singh, who is also languishing there since 1991. Earlier Pakistan had converted her death penality into life improsonment and ignited the hopes of his family members to see him released within a couple of days, but just after a night, it took a strange and ugly u-turn and thereby made of mockery of its own decision.

    Hence, we once more make a humble request to Paki President, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari to think on humanitarian grounds and order his release from jail and thereby provide an opportinuty to him to see his family and lakhs of other his dears and nears who daily pray to God for his early freedom. Please give an opportunity to live with his family for the rest of his life – R.D. Bhardwaj, New Delhi

    • In the last four years Pakistan (Not Paki) has released more than 1100 prisoners while India released only aroung 250, there are thousands . Sarbjeed Singh is the terrorist (RAW trained and India never denied this) involved in bomb explosions and killed 14 innocent people. How can a government set free a man responsible for killings so many Pakistanies. The question is why india is more keen in releasing terrorist Sarbjeet Singh and was not much keen in release of Sarjeet Singh other prisoners?
