Armed robbers looted Rs 2.2 million belonging to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) from a post office in Dehrki on Tuesday. According to the police, three armed robbers barged into the post office and took the staff hostage at gunpoint. The robbers fled the scene after looting the large amount of money brought to the post office for distribution among the poor in the area. The police said that it was being investigated as to how the robbers came to know that a large amount of money was being brought to the post office for distribution. They added that someone from the post office staff could have been involved in the robbery. A case had been registered against the accused at Dehrki Police Station and investigations were in progress.
Notorious dacoit killed in Khairpur: A notorious dacoit was killed in an encounter at Katchha area on Tuesday. According to police, on information about the presence of dacoits, a police party reached katchha area of Indus River in the jurisdiction of Abdul Rehman Unnar Police station.
The criminals fired upon police party and in an ensuing encounter criminals fled away. During the search operation, a body was found who was later identified as Bhanwar Narejo. Police said that the deceased carried a head money of Rs one million and was wanted in over 30 heinous cases registered against him. Police also recovered one K.K, a big quantity of cartridges from his possession.
