‘3 Nobel laureates’ to honour Int’l writers conference

Academy of Letters Chairman Abdul Hameed said on Tuesday that an international writers conference would soon be organised in the federal capital in which at least three Nobel Prize winning writers would participate.
Addressing a reception hosted in his honour by literary organization, “Dhandara” at Jinnah Hall, Talagang, he informed that “Minto Mela” will also be held besides organising the “Balochistan Writers Conference”. Terming the poetry a unique gift bestowed by Allah Almighty to anyone, Chairman, Academy of Letters Abdul Hameed on Monday opined that poets and writers could change the fate of a nation through their poetry and books.
“It was tragedy that our present literary work could not be introduced at world level”, he added. Shahida Latif, who presided over the ceremony, felicitated the Chairman and urged him for initiating practical measures for welfare of writers.
In his welcome address, Chairman Dhandara, Safdar Shahid Malik thanked the Chairman, and presented review performance of his organization and said that his organization was endeavoring for promoting poetry and literature with its resources.
Renowned poets, Naseem Sehar, Sabir Hussain Sabir, Social figure, Haji Ghulam Mursaleen and Sardar Zulfiqar Dhullah and Malik Asad Ali Dhermund also spoke on the occasion and felicitated Abdul Hameed for assuming charge as Chairman Academy of Letters.
He hoped that the Chairman would take concrete measures for uplift of writers and poets of Talagang and Chakwal.
Chairman, Karwan-e-Qalam Chakwal, Mirza Ahmed Noor Tair also welcomed the Chairman and presented a bouquet.
Terming the poets and writers as wealth of the nation, Haji Ghulam Mursaleen donated Rs 50,000 for Dhandara organization.
A mehfil-e-Mushaira was also held in which Shahida Latif, Naseem Sehar, Sabir Hussain Sabir, Abida Taqi, Farkhanda Shameem, Tabassam Akhlaq, Dr. Abrar Uman, Rukhsana Sehar, Mazhar Masood, Shakila Sabir and a number of poets from Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Talagang enthralled the audience with their poetry.
Later, Safdar Shahid Malik announced to make Haji Ghulam Mursaleen and renowned journalist and writer, Shakila Jalik as chief patron and general secretary of Dhandara, respectively.
Chairman Academy of Letters, Shahida Latif and Haji Ghulam Mursaleen were presented shields on the occasion.
