Three cops gunned down on duty in Quetta

Unidentified armed men killed three police constables in Quetta on Sunday. Officials said a police party of four constables was on patrolling duty in eastern bypass area of Quetta when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on them and fled. As a result, two of the constables died on spot, while the third succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. They said the police party was on patrol and came under a sudden attack, so none of them could retaliate. No one has claimed responsibility far the killing so far. Superintendent of Police Sariab Sikandar Tareen told reporters that the fourth constable remained unhurt in the attack. The bodies were moved to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for autopsy. They were identified as Abdullah Mengal, Shahjhan and Abdullah Pirkani, while the fourth official was named Mumtaz Sarpara. Police said an investigation was underway into the incident to unearth the real motive behind the killing, however, preliminary investigation showed that they had been targeted. Police have registered a case against unidentified men and an investigation is underway.
