At least five people including one MQM’s activist was killed in separate incidents of violence here on Saturday, police said.
According to sources, police recovered two-tortured body near Town Qasba colony and Liaqatabad Fly over respectively while Asif alias Budha (35) worker of MQM was shot dead in Gulistan Johar area.
The Police said that unknown persons threw the tortured body of 30-year-old youth near Shahzad cinema in Town Qasba colony and managed to escape while the dead body was shifted to civil hospital Karachi.
On the other hand police recovered bag-sacked body of 30-year-old youth on Liaqatabad Flyover, police claimed that unknown person strangulated youth to death while the identity of the youth is yet to assertion.
Meanwhile, a taxi driver was shot dead when unknown motorcyclist opened fire on him in Sector 32-A of Zia colony while Asif Masood was shot dead by the unknown armed persons in Maskan Chore of Gulshan Iqbal.
IG orders for beefing up security: Inspector General of Police, Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has ordered to beef up security measures across Sindh province in the wake of reports published in newspapers regarding possible terrorists’ attacks in Sindh.
He directed the police on Thursday to make the security arrangements more effective in all districts with the help of Pakistan Rangers.
Mushtaq Ahmad Shah directed police to take extra ordinary measures for the security of religious, political and social personalities and high officials of private and government.
All law enforcement agencies were asked to keep close liaison with intelligence agencies, follow their guidelines and prepare joint action plans for keeping the law and order situation in control. He directed that a special security plan should be made for the whole province and extensive patrolling in different areas of Sindh be carried out so that citizens can feel safe.
He directed to formulate a plan at district and town levels, security at all mosques, seminaries, shrines, worship places, airports, railways stations and other sensitive areas should be tightened on emergency basis to thwart any attempt of terrorism in the province.
He also directed police for patrolling and make the random snap checking further effective. Mushtaq Ahmed Shah said that there should be picketing at the main entry and exit points of the city.
The IG Sindh Police said that highway patrolling be made effective and coordinated. He also issued instructions to the supervisory staff for regular surveillance and monitoring.
