Accountability Court No IV, Karachi Saturday sent accused Ex-director of Callmate Ltd Nadeem Ahmed advocate to jail on judicial remand till July 10 in Rs 5 billion fraud case.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh arrested the absconding accused Nadeem Ahmed on non-bailable warrants issued by the Accountability Court in a NAB reference in respect of the fraud. According to NAB sources, seven persons including former directors, former CFO of the company and others were nominated as accused in the reference. The investigation into Rs 5 billion scam was initiated by the NAB on the complaint of management of Callmate who took over the company from accused on the basis of major share holding.
After investigation it was prima facie proved that the accused ex-directors and others remained indulged into: Cheating public at large by issuing calling cards to general public all over the country worth Rs 120 million while neither the cards were activated nor amount returned to the public as yet.
Cheating with PTCL, PTA, FBR approximately amounting to Rs 2 billion, syphoning of funds abroad on the pretext of phony sales approximately amounting to Rs 2 billion, — misuse/syphoning of company funds for purchase of properties illegally by ex-management approximately amounting to Rs 500 million. On the basis of investigation team’s report, NAB filed reference in the Accountability Court and subsequently non-bailable warrants were issued against all the accused, the sources said. Raids are being conducted for arrest of the remaining accused including ex-director Jameel Ansari, ex-CFO Imran Mehmood and others, they added.
Robbers kill shopkeeper: Dacoits on Saturday killed a shopkeeper over his resistance during a robbery attempt in Hyderabad. Police said three armed robbers entered a shop in city’s Sakhi Pir road to loot the store, but shot the shopkeeper dead when he resisted. He was identified as Zubairuddin.
