Gilgit-Baltistan CM praises Rescue 1122 academy’s efforts

Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah appreciated the Rescue 1122 Emergency Service Academy for training rescuers.
He was addressing the 16th passing-out ceremony of more than 726 rescuers, including those who will be deployed in Peshawar and Mardan (KPK), Gilgit-Baltistan, Taunsa and Rojhan (south Punjab) held at the Emergency Services Academy on Saturday.
Syed Mehdi Shah said the selection of rescuers for Gilgit-Baltistan had been made on merit. “I am happy to see that they have been given professional training at the Emergency Services Academy which is already a tested model of Rescue 1122 in Punjab. Now it is the responsibility of the trained rescuers to maintain the same standard of service in their respective provinces,” he added.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senator Azam Khan Hoti thanked Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the people of Punjab for their gesture of brotherhood and for giving an opportunity to replicate international standards of emergency services in other provinces of Pakistan.
He also acknowledged the services of Dr Rizwan Naseer as the founder of the Pakistan’s first trained emergency medical, rescue and fire service and also appreciated his efforts for the establishment of Rescue1122 in KPK.
First Muslim British parliamentarian Chaudhry Sarwer said it was a noble profession all over the world. “You will feel proud to hear that rescuers trained at ESA Pakistan are much better than those trained in the United Kingdom. The Stractch Clyde Fire Service UK is always ready to provide assistance to the Emergency Services Academy,” he added.
The passing out cadets demonstrated their professional skills in emergency management of victims in mock exercises of mass casualties resulting from explosions and fires. They also demonstrated their firefighting and rescue skills.
The 726 rescuers who passed out on Saturday included 313 rescuers from Khyber Pakhtoon Khwa, 186 rescuers from Gilgit Baltistan and 227 rescuers from south Punjab.
