The second round of anti-mosquito spray and fumigation is underway in all the rural areas of Islamabad as part of preventive measures against the dengue.
The assistant commissioners, district health officer, ICT, District Disease Surveillance Coordinator Dr Najeeb Durrani, officials of local government, union councils and revenue departments are taking part in the drive, says a press release issued here.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed said that so far areas of Tarlai, Bhara Kau and Sihala have been covered and fumigation was conducted at all important places. He told that the administration has also set up complaint cell in the union council of Tarlai with telephone No. 925518 to address any complaint about the area where fumigation is still to be carried out.
Community mobilisation is also underway in the rural areas and public health education has been launched to raise awareness in the community about the preventive measures against the dengue.
People have been advised to keep their surroundings and houses clean and mosquito free. Staff of union councils has been activated to ensure proper disposal of waste and garbage in the area. Banners and posters have been affixed at the important places about preventive measures.
