SCHLADMING – Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Grange completed a rare double on Tuesday winning the World Cup slalom here to add to his victory in Kitzbuehel last Sunday. Swedish duo Andre Myhrer and Mattias Hargin finished second and third respectively.
Just as two days earlier, Grange had been down in fourth place after the opening run with 0.85sec to make up on Myhrer. But he tore down the slope at the second time of asking to pinch a win by just four hundredths of a second. “It’s incredible for me. Just like in Kitzbuehel.
To win at Schladming was one of my main career objectives,” said Grange, who made it three wins for the season and nine in his career to date. “It is a dream to win here. To win the two biggest slalom races is a beautiful dream. It means that I have made history. This victory should bring others but I am going to savour it first.”
