Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has said that maintenance of law and order is the sole responsibility of the provincial administration.
Talking to media here on Saturday, he said if any province asks the federal government providing assistance to it for maintaince of law and order.
He said in Karachi there is polarization of various mafias including ethnic‚ drug and extortionists. He said during his visit he would discuss with the Chief Minister how to eliminate these elements and purge the city from gangsters.
He said targeted action has been taken by the Rangers and eight persons have been arrested.
He said the problem could be addressed through political means and by enhancing force in the troubled areas.
