IGP for beefing up measures to check bank dacoities

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Shah has directed that measures be beefed up to prevent the incidents of bank dacoities.
A police statement here on Friday said that he has also sought a report regarding the performance of the Special Investigating Unit regarding the investigations into the cases registered for bank dacoities and the preventive steps taken to check the bank dacoities. He directed the implementation of bank security manual and the directives of the State Bank in this regard should also be ensured. The IGP also directed that a system be devised for reviewing the security measures for the bank branches and implementation on this should also be ensured. He also instructed that the police officers should personally visit the bank branches and review the security steps.
Police arrest 22 criminals during past 24 hours: The Karachi police arrested 22 alleged criminals from different areas during the past 24 hours. A police statement on Friday said that these included absconders and proclaimed offenders. It said that a police encounter also took place during the period in the metropolis. As a result of the police action, three gangs of alleged criminals were also busted, the police statement added. As many as 12, a dagger and four mobile phones were also recovered from the possession of those arrested.
