Bar association suspends membership, bans entry of Zahid Bukhari

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and District Bar Association (LDBA) have suspended the membership and banned the entry of Zahid Bukhari, the counsel for Malik Riaz, for supporting the real estate tycoon who leveled allegations against the chief justice.
LHCBA President Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry, Vice President Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Secretary Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar and Finance Secretary Rafela Anjum Minhas stated in a joint statement that the bar associations are standing along the chief justice during this hard time and will render any sacrifice to save the judiciary.
Addressing the meeting, the lawyers’ representatives denounced the outburst of Malik Riaz against the chief justice, saying the lawyers will foil all the conspiracies against the apex court and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. They demanded the formation of a high-level commission for indicating people who are responsible for the judicial crisis.
Meanwhile the meeting of the LDBA headed by President Chaudhry Zulfiqar was also held to express solidarity with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The lawyers chanted slogans in favour of the chief justice and the judiciary and urged to stage a rally to express solidarity with the judiciary.
As a response to the call, the LDBA office bearers a large number of lawyers staged a protest at GPO Chowk and blocked all the roads for hours.
The lawyers chanted slogans against Malik Riaz and in favour of the chief justice, before dispersing peacefully.
