A woman in Gujranwala is seeking justice against men who allegedly reaped her, claiming police released the culprits after receiving heavy bribe from them, Pakistan Today learnt on Monday. Reportedly, Rukhsana, 45, was raped by four influential men of her area, Salamatpura. Sources confirmed to Pakistan Today that SI Liaqat Shah of Satellite Town police station had taken bribe and released the culprits. Talking to Pakistan Today, the victim said two women of the area befooled her on the pretext of getting her an easy loan from Kashf Foundation and took me to the residence of Rana Waris, where four people – Rana Waris, Aslam, Rana Sajid and Rana Safdar – raped her. She said she managed to flee and registered case with Satellite Town police station, but as investigation officer Liaqat Shah was a neighbor of one of the culprits, he took their side and released Safdar and Aslam immediately. She said Liaqat Shah also offered her Rs 500,000 in exchange for withdrawing the case. Upon her refusal, Shah took Rs 500,000 as bribe and released the culprits. Shah, however, denied having gone to Rukhsana’s house as a mediator.
