PMA provincial council agrees on raise for doctors

LAHORE – The Pakistan Medical Association Punjab chapter provincial council meeting unanimously agreed on Wednesday that the Punjab government needs to announce a special salary package for doctors urgently to stop the brain drain of doctors.
The PMA provincial council meeting was held at PMA House under the chairmanship of Professor M Ashraf Nizami. The office bearers of PMA Lahore, PMA Multan, PMA Gujranwala, PMA Mianwali, PMA Hafizabad, PMA Toba Tek Sing, PMA Faisalabad, PMA Gujrat, PMA Sialkot, PMA Sahiwal, PMA Bahawalpur, PMA Kasur, PMA Okara, PMA Vehari, PMA Jhang, PMA Sargodha, PMA Bahawalnagar, and a large number of provincial councilors attended the meeting.
Through another resolution PMA demanded of the Punjab government to issue Ex-Pakistan leave without pay to the 240 doctors appointed by the Saudi Ministry of Health and adhoc appointments can be made on these seats after giving them leave. They further said that the establishment of health care commission should be done is consultation with the stakeholders and it should not be done in haste.
The PMA also condemned the torture on the doctors at Nishter Hospital Multan and Services Hospital Lahore and further demanded that security be provided to all hospitals of Punjab to avoid these incidences in future.
PMA office-bearers demanded extension in current charge appointments to the doctors at all medical colleges, a ban on sale of wheat pills as people were using them to commit suicide.
