Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed while paying a detailed visit to ongoing development works in district East Karachi, directed the concerned departments to complete the renovation of Landhi Sports Complex and Korangi Zoo and construction of Korangi Crossing and Korangi Causeway in the current month so that the citizens could get better recreation facilities and the traffic flow could be improved.
He was accompanied by Director General Technical Services, Altaf G. Memon, Director I.T. Dr. A.D Sajnani, Senior Director Master Plan Iftikhar Qaimkhani, Senior Director Sports, Culture and Recreation Muhammad Rehan Khan and other high officials.
During the visit of Landhi Sports Complex, the Administrator Karachi reportedly expressed dissatisfaction on the low standard construction of swimming pool.
He called on the concerned XEN and contractor and also directed to stop the payment of the contractor. Administrator also directed to install a filter plant for changing of swimming pool’s water and its cleaning.
He expressed hope that after the completion of construction works of Landhi Sports Complex the residents of Landhi, Korangi and Malir would get the facilities of all indoor games. While visiting Korangi Zoo, Administrator directed the zoo administration to bring in more animals and complete the fish aquarium by the 15th of this month.
He said zoos were considered cheap recreation places for citizens and especially the kids get the opportunity to see such animals which they did not get to see otherwise.
While inspecting the construction of 14000, 15000 Road and Shahrah-e-Altaf he directed the Technical Services Department to complete these works without delay.
The Administrator was informed that the Korangi 14000 Road had a total length of 2 and a half kilometer and a 22 feet wide green belt in the center while the one and a half kilometer long Korangi 15000 Road also had 2900 feet long and 6 feet wide drain.
He said the construction of these roads along with the reconstruction of Korangi Causeway and Korangi Crossing would improve the travel facilities for people residing in Korangi and Landhi area. The Administrator further said that this would also solve the problem of closure of Korangi Causeway for traffic during rainy season.
During his visit, the Administrator also went to the center for treatment of drug addicts in Landhi where he was informed that at present 103 patients were admitted in Shaheed Naved Younis Center for medical treatment and rehabilitation.
The patients and their family have to sign an agreement and going through the testing procedure before getting admission in this center. So far Naved Younis Center had registered more than 1300 families for treatment of drug addicts.
Administrator Karachi on this occasion said that the KMC will provide financial assistance to the children and youngsters if they want to continue their education after the rehabilitation process completed.
He said complete medical treatment of drug addicts was possible and such patients need the attention of all member of their family so that they could be recovered mentally and physically.
