4 cops among 13 killed in Lahore suicide blast

LAHORE – At least four security personnel among 13 people were killed and 52 others injured in a suicide bomb explosion in a mourning procession near its concluding point at the Karbla Gamay Shah, private TV channels reported on Tuesday.
Quoting security officials, rescue workers and eyewitnesses, the channels reported that the blast occurred soon after the Azan-e-Maghrib, the evening prayers, near the Urdu Bazaar Chowk.
The blast was so powerful that its bang was heard far and wide and the intensity (of the blast) was so overpowering that it broke windowpanes of nearby buildings.
Soon after the blast, relief teams including Rescue 1122, government and private ambulances have launched the relief operation, while the police put security cordon around the blast site. On the other hand, emergency has been declared at major hospitals including the Ganga Ram Hospital and the Services Hospital.
