The rapidly growing fashion industry of Pakistan is the result of involvement of youngsters in a variety of fashion shows which allow experimenting to promote traditional and contemporary styles.
These views were expressed by model and actor Maria Khan. “The fusion of conventional and modern trends (East and West) created interest for fashion lovers of different cultures and invited investors to support the fashion industry in Pakistan,” she added. “The dying film industry of Pakistan sacred away investors but the flourishing fashion industry is bringing them back as Indian, Arab and other foreign designers feel pleasure to hold shows in Pakistan,” she said. Talking to APP, Shanzay, a leading designer, said, it was risky to hold a show because of security problems and lack of interest of people. “Pakistani designers are known in international markets now and many international shows feel proud to invite them which not only improves the content of their runway but also projects the soft image of the country as a talented young generation,” she said.
She said the enthusiasm and interest of young generation in the fashion industry could bring about a revolution to the dying film industry of Pakistan and gain the attention of foreign and local investors again with new ideas.
“People related to fashion and film industries want to promote fashion, art and entertainment in Pakistan to portray the softer image of our country all over the world. The fashion industry can play a big role in the current economic situation of Pakistan to spread our culture and traditions to other civilisations across the border,” she said.

  1. Fashion industrry represents 1% of the population maybe actually definitely even less. 1% of the nation cannot represent the country as a whole. People who can afford to not be like everyone else are not in any way ambassadors of the country.

  2. Culture is one way to attract tourists and tell the world about our country and fashion is a part of culture. 100% of Pakistani awam gets knock off designer outfits made from their tailors so yes fashion industry could be provider of a softer and more modern Pakistan for the world (and that's awesome )

  3. Its simply out of touch of local aspirations and norms. An industry like this can never represent an Islamic nation

    • why don't you go stick your head in some history books khizer. the world has moved on and you are still wiping your a$$. Rana Noman Haq is the BEST!!!

  4. Indeed only this industry seems to be growing while others are not.Why so? This is part of the plan and a catchy one too. How much does a designer fabric cost however small it may be? And this is not the only way to project soft image, whatever it means.USA has perhaps the lragest fashion industry alongwith its other essentials. How does that chang its image from terrorisig state to a civilsed one?

  5. Ali and Khizar please comment without prejudice , fashion is the only industry which is going well in pakistan and many people wear these cloths and also you can see many girls on the street with short jeans and its everyones personal choice what they want to wear it is islamic country but we are independent so we can do anything and we cannot control anyones life and tell them what to wear
