GCU publishes new edition of its decades-old journal

Political Science Department of the Government College University, Lahore, has published a new edition of its decades-old research journal ‘Journal of Political Science’ which includes research papers in the fields of political science, international relations, international political economy, current affairs, strategic studies, women studies, sociology, and history.
GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman chaired the inaugural ceremony of the research journal, while GCU Political Science Department Chairperson Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt and noted political scientist Dr Shafqat Hussain Chauhdry were also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Khalid Butt said that the research journal is speedily getting international recognition and noted social scientists, including Dr Joe Hill from Bonn University, Germany, Dr Chanchal Kumar Sharma from Centre of Multilevel Federalism, India, Dr Ibrahim Abu Bakar from National University of Malaysia, Dr Syed Farooq Hasnat from Middle East Institute, Washington, Dr Conrad Justus Schetter from Bonn University, Germany, Dr. Tahir Kamran from Cambridge University, UK, Dr Shafqat Hussain Chauhdry, Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi and Dr Rasul Bakhsh Rais are members of its advisory board.
The VC said that the research journal has been enlisted in international abstracting and indexing agencies and has also adopted international standard of referencing. He told the GCU faculty members that, despite all the budget cuts and economic crunch, there would no shortage of funds in the varsity for quality research projects. He said the GCU has separated its research funds and accounts so that innovative projects could be funded extensively.
The vice chancellor highly appreciated the efforts and assured the JPS Editorial Board of his complete support in the realm of journal and their research activities. He encouraged the editorial board to keep their pace towards international recognition of the journal.
Later, Muhammad Usman A Siddiqi, the associate editor of the journal, briefed the vice chancellor about the recent steps taken to ensure regularity and improve the overall quality of the journal.
