PU awards 12 PhD degrees

The Punjab University awarded 12 PhD degrees in various disciplines, a spokesman said on Saturday.
According to the spokesman PU has awarded PhD degrees to Muhammad Imran Jamil in the subject of High Energy Physics. His thesis was titled ‘Q2 Systems in QCD-Based Models and Scalar Mesons’, Muhammad Tahir Khan Farooqi who submitted a thesis titled ‘A Comparative Study of the Conflict Management Styles and Organisational Environment at University Level’; Timoor Hasan, whose thesis was titled ‘Jadeed Ghazal Ki Tashkeel aur Shakaib Jalali’; Jan Muhammad, whose thesis was titled ‘Morphology and Compositional Analysis (Infrared Spectroscopy) of Urinary Stones in Central Sindh’.
Degrees were also awarded to Rasheeda Bashir for Microbiology and Molecular Genetics after the approval of her thesis titled ‘Genetic Study of Recessive Moderate to Severe Hearing Loss in Pakistan’, Muhammad Shabbir Ali for the subject of Education after the approval of his thesis titled ‘Effect of Test Anxiety and Attitude Towards Science on Students’ Achievement in Science’.
Bibi Nazia Murtaza graduated in Biological Sciences after the approval of her thesis titled ‘Molecular Analysis and Detection of Specific Mutations in K-Ras (Kirstein Ras Viral Oncogene Homologue) in Pakistani Colorectal Cancer Patients’; Arshad Munir in Islamic Studies after submitting a thesis titled ‘Customs and Traditions in Pakistan Against Women Rights: A Study inthe Light of Contemporary Thought and Islam’; Nosheen Akbar in High Energy Physics after the approval of her thesis titled ‘Gluonic Excitations in Meson-Meson Systems’.
Ishrat Aziz was awarded a degree in Biological Sciences after the approval of her thesis titled ‘Spectram of TP53 Tumour Suppressor Gene Mutations in Pakistani Female Breast Cancer Patients’ and Khizar Hayat in Education after the approval of his thesis titled ‘Islamic Model of Educational Change’.
PU students shine in all Pakistan Debates: The Punjab University Institute of Communication Studies students Noorul Murtaza and Ali Akbar won the team trophy in the All Pakistan Urdu/English debate contest which was held at the FC College.
Noor-ul-Murtaza won the first position in the English debate contest.
In the two contests, almost 32 universities from all over the country, including GC University, PAF Risalpur, Agriculture University Faisalabad, GC University Faisalabad, Gomal University Dera Ismael Khan, Baha-ud-din Zakrya University Multan, Lahore College for Women University and Kinnaird University participated.
Acting PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Liaqat Ali congratulated the students on their success.
