People want ‘electricity’ not ‘democracy’: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif lashing out against the government over load shedding issue said that the masses want electricity not democracy.
Talking to media outside the Minar-e-Pakistan Camp office on Saturday Shahbaz Sharif said it is the right of the people to protest against power outages, adding, he would stand by the masses in their protest and would not rest till the ouster of Ali Baba and 40 thieves.
Criticising the federal government over its incompetence to tackle prevailing energy crisis he said the time had come to get rid of inefficient and corrupt rulers to solve the problems being faced by the country.
He said, however he appeals to the masses to protest against the load shedding but do not damage the national and public property.
He said that “Ali Baba and 40 thieves” along with corrupt mafia had destroyed the national economy while their poor policies and plunderers had pushed the country into darkness.
He said that the energy crisis had led to closure of many industries in Faisalabad and other cities while the people were struggling to make ends meet.
Punjab Chief Minister said he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the protestors to address their woes but urged them to hold peaceful rallies and not to destroy national and public property.
Shahbaz said Government has only looted the public for four years and we would bring back the looted money to the country. He said today the public is in dire need of electricity if RS 400 billion circular debt is bought back than this crisis could be brought to an end. He said that until and unless the looted money is bought back to the country the crisis cannot end.
The chief minister said Punjab is facing discrimination over electricity load shedding and protests will continue across the province until a uniform schedule of power outages is enforced throughout the country.
Shahbaz Sharif said that he can leave the government but cannot live with gas pilfers.

  2. we strongly back up the feelings of Mr.Shahbaz as ppp is exploiting the nation of bloody democracy.We do not want that democracy which snatches the right of freedom and we condemn this system which is agaist the interest of genral public which deprives of every basic necessity of human wants.Only ppp is playing drama for democracy,actually they are pleasing America.

  3. This CM is setting bad examples for other provinces. In fact government is in deep waters. Issues are relations with NATO. OIC and other friends are not happy with our ardent policies which were drawn by the Parliament.

  4. Sharifs have a strange logic. They do not want democracy but want to protest. If there is no democracy, how will they have the right to protest? This is height of foolish talk. Please excuse me for using this harsh word but could not find anything better.

  5. @ShahidMalik, Never did Sharif protest, when there was no democracy during Musharaf dictatorship. They ran away to Jeddah jackalically!!!!!! instead of protesting and lived luxioursly, Under another martial law of Gen Zia they established an enterprise of loot and plunder instead of protesting. People have short memory, and it is to their advantage.
