LAHORE – A two-member committee consisting of Government College University (GCU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Khalid Aftab and University of Engineering and Technology (UET) VC Lieutenant General (r) Muhammad Akram will present its report on issue of the University of Education (UoE) to the Punjab CM today (Tuesday) after meeting with the varsity administration.
On Monday, Insaaf Students Federation (ISF) activists and UOE students held a protest against termination of varsity teachers. According to sources, some elements are forcing students to hold protest but in everything in this regard is being done according to the rules and regulations. Last week, UoE VC Farhat Naseem terminated two contractual officials including IT Director Anwarur Rehman Pasha and his wife Shaheen over allegations of corruption, as she has enough proofs of corruption against the two officials.
Afterwards, UOE students and some ISF workers started holding protests and also staged a protest in front of the Punjab Assembly (PA) where two Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) including Saeed Elahi and Rana Arshad assured students that a two-member committee would present its report today and decisions would be taken
in this regard.
According to sources, the two contractual employees were terminated due to some proofs against them, which are available with the administration, and students should not have held any protests in this regard.
They said that the varsity administration had no grudge against the two officials and was acting according to rules and regulations.
