IHC moved for quashing FIR against Qadri

ISLAMABAD – An intra-court application has been moved to Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the IHC single bench decision for not quashing FIR and suspending of jail trial of Mumtaz Qadri, the assassin of Governor Salman Taseer.
Earlier, IHC single bench comprising of Justice Muhammad Anwar Kasi on January 20, had rejected two pleas of , seeking end of the jail trial and quashing of Fir registered under section (302), against the Mumtaz Qadri, Justice Anwar Kasi had said that under section 295/C only courts had authority to hand down a sentence and no one was allowed to take law into one’s own hands.
Meanwhile, ATC hearing Salman Taseer murder case handed over copies of charge sheet against the self-confessed assassin Mumtaz Qadri to the defense lawyer here on Monday.
Islamabad police had submitted the charge sheet to the court last Saturday. Qadri’s lawyer Tariq Dhamial while receiving the charge sheet requested the court to allow his client to meet his family. The court fixed January 26 for hearing arguments regarding permission to the accused to meet his family.
