Punjab Chief Minister’s Advisor Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz said on Tuesday that the government will allot plots to special people in all the residential schemes set to be launched in the next fiscal year and that a huge amount will be allocated for the purpose in the budget.
Speaking at her office, she said disabled people were an integral part of society and deserved to be provided with every facility.
She stated that the Social Welfare Department had already launched a number of projects for their rehabilitation. “On the instruction issued by the chief minister, the department is working on mega projects, including the allotment of plots in residential schemes across the province,” she added.
Zakiya added that the services of foreign trained experts were being hired to train physically challenged people so that they could live a normal life. She added that the Special Education Ministry was opening free health centres for the disabled.
