Supreme Court of Pakistan Judge Justice Khilji Arif Hussain has urged the district attorneys to take their professional responsibility seriously.
He expressed these views in the inaugural ceremony of one-week course on ‘District Attorneys and Management of Civil Cases’ for attorneys/ deputy district attorneys from all over Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, here at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) Islamabad on Monday.
Shedding the light on the reason why decisions in the civil cases more often come against the authority/the government including the public sector organizations such as corporations, he opined:
It is noticed that the law officers, including the district attorneys/deputy district attorneys, are given proper instructions in the case in question.
They are not provided with the facts about the case because senior officers in the public sector organizations take it light and it is also seen that they depute a lower grade officer to brief the district attorney/deputy district attorney, then, as a result of that the decisions come against the authority. “Whatever may be the circumstances and situation but you have to work with devotion and dedication and professional honesty. You must have to read the noting and correspondence file of the organization and have to save the national exchequer with your caution and care,” he advised the trainee attorneys.
