Three people were killed and eight others injured in a bomb explosion in the outskirts of Quetta on Sunday.
Police said a police van was the main target of the bomb that was fitted to a donkey cart parked along the road, however, the police personnel escaped the attack alive.
According to details, a police van of New Sariab police station carrying some personnel was coming towards the city when the IED attached to the donkey cart went off as the van passed it by.
As a result, a rickshaw driver, two owners of donkey carts and two donkeys were killed.
SP Iskandar Tareen said three passers-by were killed and eight persons, including a police official, were injured in the bomb attack.
He said the police personnel in an official van were the main target of the attack, but they remained unhurt. “Only a constable received minor injuries,” he said.
Mohibullah, a staff of the Bomb Disposal Squad, said the bomb was an IED of between 10kgs to 15kgs and was detonated with a remote control.
Two of the deceased were identified as Mohammad Yunis and Mohammad Arif, an Afghan national while the third was yet to be named.
The injured included Badur Khan, Abdur Samad, Mozammal Ahmad, Abdul Rashid, Rafiullah, Allah Bakhsh, Waqar Ahmad and Constable Mohammad Nazar.
