Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Mujahid Sherdil has said the authority is responsible for immediate response to any emergency or disaster and has chalked out a plan to collect information to assess the vulnerability of communities exposed to the risk of flooding.
Presiding over meeting, he said PDMA would hold a detailed study of thousands of settlements in all major rivers in nine vulnerable districts of Punjab. A detail survey has been planned and all settlements have been marked on the map with the help of the geographic information system, he added.
He said an Android-based data entry application had been developed to help conduct the socio-economic and vulnerability assessment of residents of villages.
He said district disaster risk management coordinators would be responsible for the completion of the comprehensive survey adding that they would be assisted by the district administration.
