The 21st National Karate Championship is starting today (Saturday) at Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar under the auspices of o the Pakistan Karate Federation and KP Sports Directorate. Teams from all the affiliated units of PKF including WAPDA, Army, Railways, Police, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Islamabad and FATA are participating in the championship. The championship will be held in Individual Kumite 50, 55, 60, 67, 75, 84 and above 84 Kgs, Team Kumite, Individual Kata and Team Kata. The Pakistan team is participating in the 11th Asian Karate Championship scheduled to be held from July 14 to 17 at Tashkent, Uzbekistan and the selection committee comprising Nasim Qureshi (Chairman), Muhammad Usman, Shamim Hashmi (Secretary) will pick team from the participants. The Opening Ceremony will be held at 11 AM and Brig. Ameer Khan, Commander ANF Peshawar will be the chief guest at the Opening Ceremony and the prize distribution ceremony will be held on Sunday at 4 PM. Senior Minister KP Bashir Ahmed Bilour will be chief guest.
