A 10-year-old housemaid with broken bones and burn marks was found dumped along a road here on Thursday. The volunteers of Edhi Foundation found the unconscious girl identified as Sobia critically injured, lying on roadside in the Ghakhar area. She was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where doctors were also stunned after seeing her deplorable condition. The ill-fated girl’s bones were fractured, and burn marks were visible on her body. DMS Dr Sohail said the bones of the girl’s hands were smashed apparently due to brutal torture.
After coming to senses, she told that she used to work as housemaid at a bungalow for the last one and a half years and had been tortured by the house owners. However, the details about her parents and the location of her house owners could not be ascertained as she again went unconscious due to pain and fear. Gujranwala Child Protection Bureau took the girl into custody, and approached the court for action against the responsible.
