Amendments proposed in NED University’s admission policy

The Academic Council of the NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi which met here on Thursday with Vice-Chancellor, Abul Kalam, in the chair proposed some amendments in the institution’s admission policy to be effective from January next year.
The Registrar, Javed Aziz Khan, said that the amendments would be considered for approval by the Syndicate which would meet in June.
He said that the amendments pertain to increase in number of seats from present 1928 to 1952, enhancement in eligibility ladder-from 40 marks in entry test to 50 marks, and enhancement in the fee.
It was pointed out that of the increased 20 seats pertain to the Optical Engineering, a discipline that would be introduced from the next academic session commencing in January 2013. With regard to enhancement in fee, those seeking admission against self-finance seat would have to pay Rs 500,000 against the existing Rs 450,000.
For the new entrants obtaining admissions under regular seats will have to pay Rs 17,000 from the present 15,000 for the first semester only.
However, the amendments in the admission policy would become effective only after necessary approval from the Syndicate scheduled to meet in June, it was further explained.
