Hollywood may have received Freida Pinto with open arms but the lady has continued to draw constant flak from the Indian media ever since she made her debut with ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Although Hollywood and the Western press have crowned her as a ‘beauty’, its Indian counterpart find it hard to swallow the fact that in spite of possessing average looks, a made-up accent and a rather ‘too dark’ a complexion, Freida has become a darling of the Western media. All this criticism has left this Indian export upset and she has blurted it out in an interview to an Australian daily. This is what she has to say. “I’ve realised they’re cruel about everyone. They love to hate and make other people hate as well, which is sad because most of the stories they come up with are so untrue or misconstrued.
I don’t have a Twitter or Facebook account because if I did, I’d be constantly using them to justify what has been written about me in the press. It does get frustrating sometimes, but you just have to let it die down.” Even though she may not get a meaty role in a Bollywood flick, her fans will see her soon in two Hollywood flicks soon. Frieda will be seen portraying characters of an Iranian and an Italian woman in the two films.
