Three people were killed and as many people were injured in a roadside accident near Khurshid Colony area of the city Tuesday morning, officials said.
According to police, the accident occurred owing to overtaking between a fast-paced truck and a Suzuki, as a result killing three people Asad Pathan, Adad Gul and Mashooq Mastoi on the spot. Also, three other people were injured in the mishap. These injured have been shifted to Taluka Hospital Kotri. Truck driver fled the scene soon after the mishap. Teams of police and rescue, reached on the spot and shifted the injured to hospital.
Iranian CG calls on metropolitan commissioner: KMC Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan has said mutual cooperation and coordination with brother Islamic country Iran underway for solid waste management, bus rapid transport system and modern slaughterhouse system.
He expressed these views on a meeting with the Iranian Consul General Abbas Ali Abdullahi who called on him in his office. MC Matanat Ali Khan said solid waste management and bus rapid transport system was successfully run by Iranian city Mashhad and the technical team will soon submit its report for implementation of BRTS in Karachi. The project would be launched in the lights of the technical team’s report.
He said that a complete technical report would also help making the solid waste system in Tehran and Mashhad workable in Karachi and a modern solid waste management system will be adopted. He also called the recent visit of Mashhad Lord Mayor a successful one during which various meetings were held for solid waste management, BRTS and slaughter house project.” Coordination to maintain a working relationship between the KMC and Iranian authorities were underway and we should take the advantage of their expertise” he said.
Iranian Consul General Abbas Ali Abdullahi said Pakistan is brother neighbor country and we are ready to provide the technical support and cooperation for Karachi’s solid waste management and bus rapid transport system. He said the recent visit of Mashhad Mayor would bring good results and both countries would get the benefits of their experiments.
Yasin Shar takes charge of SESSI vice commissioner: Muhammad Yasin Shar has taken charge as the Vice-Commissioner of Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution (SESSI). An announcement of the institution here on Tuesday said that Nishat Zaidi has assumed the additional charge of Director Public Relations of SESSI vice Dr Fatima Hassan who has retired.
