6th grader dies after self immolation

A student of class VI set himself on fire after his teacher refused to permit him to attend classes following his two-day absence due to a close relative’s wedding. The child suffered severe burn wounds and died at a hospital later, while his father suffered a heart attack after seeing his son in agony. According to TV channels, Muhammad Omar went to school after a two-day absence, but the school teacher asked him to bring his father to verify the reason for his absence. However, the father turned down Omar’s request to accompany him to school. The next day (Friday), the school teacher again sent the child home for not bringing his father.
On his way back, the frustrated child set himself ablaze after he dousing himself in petrol. The child was shifted to Allied Hospital in extremely critical condition. Doctors said the kid received 100 percent burn injuries. The aggrieved mother said her son could not attend school due to the wedding of his uncle. The deputy commissioner of Faisalabad ordered an enquiry into the incident against two teachers Masood Siddiqui and Ghulam Fareed of the MC High School.
