LAHORE – Pakistan People’s party (PPP) does not feel threatened by the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and Mutahhida Qaumi Movement nexus in Punjab because it has the public’s unflinching support.
The leaders of PPP expressed these views while recording reaction over the newly-established alliance of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) and Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
They, however, said every political party has the right to establish liaison with like-minded parties and the democratic forces should welcome such moves instead of getting frustrated over such groupings.
PPP Punjab General Secretary Sami Ullah Khan said all the political parties of the country should have meetings with each other to discuss bilateral issues as this practice was necessary for the strengthening of democracy and to counter conspiracies.
However, he clarified that these meetings should not be held at the directions of hidden hands. PPP Punjab Secretary Finance Aurangzeb Barki said that the PPP supports all such moves that aimed at strengthening of democratic norms. Barki said if the contract between the two was for the betterment of country then it would be a good omen for democracy but if it was managed on the directions of some forces then they negate the deal.
He said that the PPP government was taking solid steps for providing basic facilities of life to the masses and will approach the masses with its performance.
