The Lahore High Court (LHC) moved on Thursday against the eligibility of Prime Minister Gilani calling for a larger bench.
LHC’s Justice Umer Ata Bandial heard the petition challenging the status of Gilani as prime minister. During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer AK Dogar stated that Gilani can no longer hold the office of prime minister after being convicted by the Supreme Court and requested the court to bar him from carrying out official appointments.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Bandial called the matter ‘very crucial’ and said that a larger bench will hear the petition.
The justice forwarded a request to the LHC Chief Justice to form a larger bench to hear this particular petition.
