Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Wednesday sent a summary to the Punjab government demanding the appointment of 1300 judges in the lower courts.
The summary sent to the government stated that 696 civil and 317 additional sessions judges be appointed on an emergency basis as the shortage of judges was causing a delay in justice.
It stated that each judge in Punjab has to deal with 900 cases which cause delay in the dispensation of the justice.
However, the Punjab government is yet to reply to the summary forwarded by the LHC chief justice.
