The funeral prayer of Owais Aqeel, the student who was shot dead in the Punjab University on Sunday, was offered on Monday.
Aqeel was shot dead and his colleague, Ijaz, was injured following an alleged clash between two rival student wings. Sources said students from a rival group targeted them in the university hostel. Both the students belong to the Sambrial area of Sialkot. “The students’ sustained bullet injures. They were rushed to the hospital, of them Owais could not survive,” a university official told a private TV channel, adding that a clash between the two groups led to the gunfire exchange and the murder.
Meanwhile, after the funeral prayer, a large number of students came out from the hostels and classrooms, protesting over the killing and chanting slogans against the administration.
