Elections could lead to civil war: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday said the system was not functioning properly and elections conducted under such circumstances would lead to civil war.
“We should forget about conducting elections in such circumstances,” Shahbaz said while addressing a reception hosted in honour of the executive committee of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS).
Shahbaz said that eight months ago he was quite optimistic about the situation in Pakistan but now he felt that there was no hope for revival in the country.
Stressing the need for a new national agenda, the Punjab chief minister said that energy needs of the country should be given priority to address the electricity crisis which had paralysed all sectors, resulting in closure of several industries and rendering thousands of people jobless.
He criticized the federal government for meting out step-motherly treatment to Punjab, adding that his province was the worst hit by unscheduled power outages. He lamented that although the federal government had promised to share the load equally among the provinces, Punjab was still bearing the brunt with load shedding up to 20 hours being carried out in various parts of the province.

  1. Why does this guy behave like a street fighter 24/7?

If you are the chief executive of an important province, pay attention to some governance issues (not just dole out favors). Bring out some constructive ideas…

  2. The chief minister of the Punjab is behaving like a King distributing favors. Behaving this way is in our psyche, we have not learned how to conduct the affairs of government in a fair and impartial manner. Even the conditions which exist in the country which compels Mr. Shahnawaz Sharif to apprehend a blood shed if elections were conducted are the making of our rulers and Shahbaz is no exception to that.

  3. This man is a fool of the first order. Why did he sign agreement with PPP over interim govt and appointment of CEC? Why did he jointly passed 20th amendment for election arrangement in Parliament with PPP, if elections were to bring civil war? If civil war still comes after 20th amendment, why did he sign it in the first place? All he is saying is a stunt for power politics.

  4. Jabal, you have actually started to make some sense. Keep it up. I am proud of you 🙂
