CDA to submit report on construction of jail

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and officials of the district administration Islamabad would submit report to the chief commissioner on Monday regarding the construction of district jail within premises of Tarnol police station.
The official source said that Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada has directed the Project Director, CDA, Ayaz Khan to visit the site of under construction Tarnol Police Station along with the Superintendent, Jail, Adyala, Rawalpindi and work out the details of construction of District Jail within its premises. It has been asked to submit the project concept by Monday along with details of estimate to be incurred on the project.
He said that it is very strange that Tarnol Police Station, situated at the outer cordon of Islamabad, would also be used as temporary District Jail for Islamabad. He said that necessary modifications in the building of Tarnol police station are to be made according to the essential requirements for jail. It has been directed that the new building should include essential requirements and detailed security apparatus befitting the requirements of a jail.
Superintendent Jail Adyala, Rawalpindi has already informed the participants about the requirements of jail building including construction of 18 to 20 feet high boundary walls, construction of central tower, 04 tower check posts, barracks for the prisoners, laying electric barbed wires around the boundary walls, construction of mosque and health unit, construction of visitors room and other necessary security gadgets.
