The notification for the appointment of Zafar Abbas Lak as the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been withheld. Sources said Lak would continue to perform his duties as the acting secretary for the Narcotics Division, while Javed Iqbal would continue to head the FIA. Sources were of the view that implementation on the notification had not been cancelled; rather there was only a delay in this regard.
Creating obstruction to the promotion of a brilliant loyal servant Mr. Zafar Abbas Lak, is against the norms of democracy. Probably he had only one choice and that is to protect Musa Gillani or else have the same fate as that of Mr. Babar Awan. Remember the golden words that "democracy is the best revenge."
